Never heard of the guy before… William Powell is fantastic as Florenz Ziegfeld, Luise Rainer is irritating as Anna Held. Great production numbers, but the movie is too long and has trouble moving the story along. Watch it when you have a lot of free time.

That makes 2 Clark Gable movies. He kind of overdoes it in this one, but it is an adventure movie after all. Bligh is a little too evil and Fletcher Christian a little too nice. Very enjoyable.

Cute, but rather predictable and cliche. Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert were both pretty good. Fun to watch.

Grand Hotel (1932)

Have to catch up with the Great Oscar Project…

Great cast (except that Garbo as Grusinskaya was actually a little annoying), great characters. Basically a soap opera in a movie, but at least an entertaining one. Never saw that end coming.
